Following WWII the introduction of modern art, by a group of artists known as the Abstract Expressionists, coincided with the times to be used as propaganda in the cold war. Representing the free spirit of creativity possible in the US, its promotion was instrumental in popularizing what, at the time, was considered a revolutionary approach to painting. This ultimately established New York City, where the movement began, as a replacement for Paris, previously the world center for the visual arts. I enjoy working in this genre for its immediacy of creative self-expression.
